Treated Southern Yellow Pine

Pressure Treated Southern Yellow Pine is the most economical material available for deck building. It is extremely strong and will not rot or decay, due to its chemical treatment. Treated pine is also used to build the structure of all exterior decks because of its strength and life expectancy. It comes with a limited warranty for most residential applications.

It holds up well in low to grade and heavily shaded conditions. We do not recommend it to be used as decking in areas of constant afternoon sun. This will tend to literally 'bake' the life out of the wood leading to excessive checking and splitting. Pine can be stained to match most exterior finishes, after allowing the moisture content of the wood to lower.

We stock #1 grade treated pine framing and deck materials, which will have fewer knots and a higher strength rating. We stock only non-arsenic treated pine produced by Curt Bean Lumber, a licensed wood treater for Wolmanized Outdoor® wood. It is treated with a patented copper-based preservative and an organic fungicide.
